Denture

Dentures are prosthetic devices that are used to replace the missing teeth. They are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable, bonded or clipped on teeth.

There are several categories of dentures, depending on whether they are used to replace missing teeth on the mandibular arch or the maxillary arch.

  • Dental plate is a pull out appliance that artificially replaces missing teeth
  • Dental bridge is a denture anchored to teeth on either side of missing teeth
  • Metal ceramics and nonmetal ceramics are used to restore the teeth
  • Nonmetal ceramics laminate is composed on teeth, or arranged in layers or lamina

There are several dentures that can be fixed to the implants:

  • Metal ceramic teeth. Where metal frame is produced in the laboratory and ceramics are applied on it layer by layer
  • Nonmetal ceramic teeth. Where zirconium frame is intended for dental bridge of not more than 3 teeth. Ceramics is layered on the frame in the laboratory
  • Metal acrylic teeth. There are acrylic teeth in the metal frame that is coveredwith acryl. This construction is less expensive; its construction is mechanically less stable and has shorter steadfastness and durability

Denture on the implants can be fixed in two ways:

  1. Denture is cemented on the implants base.
  2. With a help of small golden bolts, denture is screwed on the implants base.

Dentures can be made to closely resemble your natural teeth so that little change in appearance will be noticeable. They can also be of a different form, color or size than patient’s natural teeth. Dentures are personalized by considering the shape of face, tone of skin and gender. Main purpose of the denture is to restore esthetics, mastication function and articulation. Dentures may even improve the look of your smile and help fill out the appearance of your face and profile.

Immediate dentures are inserted immediately after the removal of the remaining teeth. The dentist takes measurements and makes the models of the patient's jaws during a preliminary visit.

An advantage of immediate dentures is that the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. Conventional denture can then be made once the tissues have healed. Healing may take at least 6-8 weeks.

Removable denture fits over a small number of remaining natural teeth or implants. The natural teeth must be prepared to provide stability and support for the denture.

The denture technique allows to:

  • Restore youthful and realistic appearance
  • Look and feel of natural teeth
  • Ensure the best possible fit, function and comfort
  • Eat most of the foods
  • Speak more clearly
  • Improve digestion

With planning, denture corrections can often be made in one day.  Advanced dental materials create dentures that are more comfortable, more durable and fit better to the unique mouth arch. These dentures offer higher levels of comfort, fit and performance. Teeth wear longer, are stronger and resist discoloration.
